expansion project

Alhamdulillah!  The Muslim community in Charleston is expanding.  Since the construction of the Center in 1987, the number of Muslim families in the area has more than doubled and we have outgrown the facilities of the Islamic Center.  During the last two Eids and Ramadan, there was not enough seating for everyone in community hall downstairs.  In addition, parking shortages have become a normal occurrence every Friday and Sunday.

To solve these problems and to attract youth and new members to the Center, we are building an addition that will provide the following benefits:

  • More than double the size of the community hall with separate serving lines for men and women

  • Additional parking for 80 to 100 cars

  • Overflow prayer hall that will double as a recreational area/basketball court to attract youth and new members

  • An elevator for the elderly and handicapped

  • Provide nine permanent classrooms for the Sunday School

Please help us raise funds for this project that will benefit the entire community.  The cost estimate for this project is $870,000.

Construction Phases

With your financial help and support, we plan to complete the project in three phases as follows:

  • Phase I – Construct the entire shell and build a new parking lot.

  • Phase II – Finish the lower level, including the hall, kitchen, and permanent classrooms for Sunday School.

  • Phase III – Finish the upper hall expansion that will double as basketball court, elevator/minaret and a lounge.

It’s Your Center, Donate

Allah Subhana Wa’taala says in Surah “At-Tauba” verse 18:

“The mosques of Allah shall be visited and maintained by such as believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity, and fear none (at all) except Allah.  It is they who are expected to be on true guidance.”

Be one of those who visit and maintain mosques of Allah.  Donate generously and gain His favor (Inshallah).  This is one donation that will continue to generate blessings for you (Sadaqah Jariyah).

Jazak allah wa khairun
