RULES FOR THE USE OF ISLAMIC CENTER AND MOSQUE

PASSED BY GENERAL ASSEMBLY, ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION OF WEST VIRGINIA

This is a house of worship for Allah.  Proper decorum is always to be observed while within these premises.  Anyone breaching the rules of proper conduct will not be allowed without rectifying the offending behavior.

The primary purpose of this Center is to facilitate Muslim religious observances and pursuit of spiritual growth.  Activities promoting family and community unity and harmony will be allowed as long as they do not interfere with the religious purposes of this building.

This Mosque and Islamic Center are for the use of all Muslims without regard to their race, color, national origin or affiliation with any recognized sect of Islam.  

Since certain religious and cultural differences are inevitable within the larger Ummah of Islam, all activities that create distress within any of the groups or division among the Muslims will be curtailed.  

The following rules are to be observed:  

  • Appropriate conservative/modest code of dress is to be observed.

  • Loud or offensive behavior, foul language is not permitted.

  • Adults and children, including infants, are not to enter the prayer area with their shoes on.

  • Parents are responsible to make sure children are not disruptive and observe proper cleanliness.

  • Only Halal/Zabiha food should be served.

  • No products containing peanuts are allowed.

  • Alcohol or alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.

  • Pork or pork products are not allowed on the premises.

  • Eating is permitted only in the designated area.

  • No smoking allowed inside the building.

  • Pictures, statues, etc., depicting living objects are prohibited.

  • The lower level is reserved for community social activities.  It may be rented for specific purposes upon the approval of the designated caretakers of the building.

  • The community hall can only be rented for solemn and dignified functions such as educational activities, marriages, graduations, etc., as long as proper decorum is maintained.  Playing of music and dancing will not be allowed.

  • The following rules will apply for renting of the lower hall:

    • Fee:  $200 for members or $300 for non-members. 

    • Timing:  10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    • Cleaning:  Hall has to be cleaned by those who rent it.

    • Key:  Arrangements will be made for the center to be open at the time requested.  No keys will be given to the renters.
